BLACK

  1. Holds 7ml of ink if fully empty. Drip 5ml to be safe until your use to it. Best refill before empty to keep on printing and save your printer head from burn-out. Also it keeps the cartridge moist. Dried or old cartridges may not work!
  2. Turn the cartridge upside down and drip 5ml of ink in to the hole. DO NOT puncture the foam. Do not leave upside down too long. You can gently squeeze the sides as you drip the ink to make it soak in quicker. Not too hard!
  3. Do not leave the cartridge upside down too long or the ink will come out of the breathing hole at the top and make a mess. If it does, just wipe clean.
  4. Stand upright until the ink stops dripping. There may be a little, so use newspaper or a bucket or some thing that can tolerate a spill. Ink stains!
  5. Note with the black cartridge, since it's all black, it does not matter if it runs out of the air hole and remixes when you turn it back the correct way up!

COLOURS METHOD 1... See Method 2 Below

  1. Holds 4ml each of coloured ink if all are fully empty. Some Likely a % still full.
  2. You need to know which colour is not printing before filling them all. Yellow is usually the first to go. If in doubt, anything around 3ml that starts to puddle and not soak in, means no more. Do not puncture foam..
  3. *You must not leave the colour cartridge upside down too long. The colours will come out of the air hole at the top and mix. Do it in short bursts. Fill each syringe with 3ml of ink, so you have 3 x colours ready to go! Best tape the holes you’re not filling to avoid cross contamination should you drip too much in and it runs over to the next colour outlet. Don’t do all of one colour, then the next!
  4. Fill in this order: You can tell dryness by how quick the ink is absorbed. Stop when the ink sits in a puddle. Do not over fill or it will splash when printing, or it will run into the other chambers when up righted for insertion.
  5. Syringe with Cyan. Turn the cartridge upside-down and drip 1ml at a time. ^Upright 15 seconds. Next Colour Magenta
  6. Syringe with Magenta. Turn the cartridge upside-down and drip 1ml at a time. ^Upright 15 seconds. Next Colour Yellow
  7. Syringe with Yellow. Turn the cartridge upside-down and drip 1ml at a time. ^Upright 15 seconds. Back to Cyan and start over until all 3ml is in.
  8. Wipe any excess ink between colours so they don’t run to other chambers. Leave until it stops dripping and then place it back in the holder. Return to printer.
  9. You must take your time with these. Keep them topped up for best results.

COLOURS METHOD 2

  1. With the colour cartridge you can snap the top off after taping the exit holes. If you find dripping ink in with the cartridge upside down too hard, this maybe a better method for you.
  2. Note with the black cartridge, since it's all black, it does not matter if it runs out of the air hole and remixes when you turn it back the correct way up! So it's best to drip the ink in as shown above.

Once the cap is removed, place the ink in the correct holes, then replace the cap and press down firmly and hold with sticky tape. DO NOT block the small air hole.

If you plan to refill several for later use, tape the exit hole and tape the air hole and store upright, remember to remove top and bottom tape before use.

Pigment Black is used for text in the Bci24. Pigment ink, once dry won't run if the paper gets wet, say; a few rain drops on it. But since all other colours are dye based, you can use 'Regular' black to save money. Let's face it, if the paper does get wet, isn't it ruined anyway? I would not like to receive a letter water soaked or covered in Coffee stains???
